Travertine is one of the most beautiful materials you can have around a pool. It's also one of the most porous - which means it holds onto algae, mold, and grime faster than most people expect. Down here in South Florida, the heat and humidity speed that process up even more.
This West Palm Beach pool deck had a solid layer of buildup working against it. The natural variation in the stone - all those warm golds, rusts, and creamy whites - was getting buried under a dull, dirty film. The covered patio area had the same issue. It just didn't look like the backyard it was meant to be.
We came in and did a full deep clean on the travertine pool deck and covered patio. The key with natural stone is dialing in the right pressure. Too much and you start pulling out the grout or pitting the surface. We find that sweet spot where we're pulling the grime out without doing any damage to the stone itself.
The difference is night and day. The warm amber tones and natural veining in the travertine came right back. The grout lines are clean and defined. The whole space just feels like it belongs to the house again - the kind of backyard you actually want to spend time in.
Travertine pool decks in South Florida need regular attention, plain and simple. The climate works against you year-round. If your outdoor space has lost that clean, polished look it had when it was first laid down, we can get it back.
